Red Sweater Project is made possible by the generosity of our skilled volunteers and local Tanzanian staff. We are a global community that believes when woven together, our strengths can accomplish more than any one of us alone.

We offer short- and long-term positions both in Tanzania and abroad. Our volunteers include writers who contribute remotely, staff who provide office support, and teachers who live at our staff house for an entire school year and work in the classroom daily.

in the northern Arusha Region.

ESL ENGLISH IMMERSION PROGRAM TEACHER
We are accepting applications for an ESL-trained English Teacher to join a team of fellow colleagues to instruct
the English Immersion Program (EIP), teaching beginner language skills to Pre-Form I students (students aged
11-14, 7th Grade level equivalent) at the Mungere School, engaging them to speak, read, write and understand

English in a creative environment.
Mungere students live in a remote community where English is rarely spoken and primary school is taught in the
local language of Swahili. Yet, Tanzanian secondary school curriculum is based in English medium and the
language barrier can be a significant obstacle to learning. Teachers engage students in the nine month-long EIP to
actively participate in English classes and extra-curricular activities designed to broaden skills to prepare them for
their coursework in Form I.
