Dodoma was announced as the capital of Tanzania in 1973, but on 26 April 2018 at the 54th anniversary of the Tanganyika and Zanzibar Union, the president of the United Republic of Tanzania for the fifth phase John Magufuli promoted the status and declared the Dodoma is the City. The five-phase government migrated to Dodoma in 2016. The city is also the Dodoma Region and its area is counted as Dodomayenye District post 41100. The city area is 1135 meters above sea level. During the 2012 census, the city of Dodoma had a total population of 410,956.
