Personal Care Assistant (Female)

The School of St Jude is a 100% charity-funded education institution that provides free, high-quality primary and secondary scholarships to 1,800 of the poorest and brightest students in the Tanzanian region of Arusha.

We are seeking a creative energetic individual to fill the position above based in Arusha, Tanzania at the School of St Jude. A person who can work overnight, taking care of a student with a disability.

Job Purpose
Provide assistance with personal care (e.g. toileting, dressing and undressing, bathing, brushing teeth), including assisting during the night as requested by the student.
Undertake chores that the student would otherwise be expected to do to maintain her personal belongings, her room at boarding and communal spaces at boarding. (e.g. laundry, shoe cleaning, sweeping).
Collect and assist with meals during boarding time (dinner, breakfast).
Assist the student to undertake private study and to be ready for classes. (e.g. keeping school books and stationery in good order, packing and unpacking her school bag) 
Have a minimum knowledge in health to help the student in her needs (bandages, massages of arms…) 

Always work with a sensitive and respectful attitude. 
Allow, and encourage, the student to be as independent as possible. 
Notify the boarding parents for any issues requiring immediate attention.
Keep records of care provided and report any issues to the staff member nominated for Girls Affairs and/or the Welfare Coordinator promptly.
Attend boarding parent or other school meetings to provide a report if requested.
Perform any other duties as you may be required by your supervisor.

Qualifications, Skills and Attributes
Sufficient literacy skills to read instructions and maintain records. (Preferably English for consistency across records, but otherwise Swahili.)
Willingness to undergo appropriate training to undertake personal care tasks in a safe and respectful manner.
An understanding of working with young women with physical disabilities.
Nursing assistant certificate is preferred.

Videographer and Photographer

We are seeking a creative energetic individual to fill the position above based in Arusha, Tanzania at the School of St Jude.

Key Responsibilities
To ensure all tasks in videography and photography are completed within set times frames. 
To perform tasks from a set schedule organised and coordinated by the Head of Supporter Relations 
To coordinate with Head of Supporter Relations in the organisation of videos and photographs of students and staff as briefed.
To interview students, teachers, other staff depending on photography and/or video script requirements.
To seek videography and photography opportunities of interesting classes, professional development activities, presentations, performances, visitors and activities occurring on all three campuses.
To edit, label, resize, sort and file digital videos and photographs logically and within set time frames.
To record, track all videography and photography related equipment.
To take videos and photographs of academic excursions, school assemblies, events as requested.
Organise the logical storage/filing of all videos and photographs. 
Participate and support fellow staff in school mission related activities such as all school Celebration Days and Child Selection.
Perform any other duties as you may be assigned by Supervisor..

Qualifications, Skills and Attributes
Excellent organisation skills.
Exceptional communication skills (written and oral) in English & Kiswahili.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
Strong inter-personal skills.
Exceptional attention to detail regarding data-entry and digital image labeling.
Minimum qualification of a diploma in videography and photography, graphic design or any other related field.
